Two men were hurt when their car struck a moose in the town of Amity.

State Police say the 1999 Audi A4, driven by 34-year-old Jake DeHahn of Amity, was traveling southbound on US 1 when the moose walked onto the road. DeHahn's vehicle struck and killed the moose and then traveled across a field, where it finally came to rest in some woods.

DeHahn was trapped in the vehicle and the Houlton Fire Department had to use the jaws of life to get him out. He and his passenger, 37-year-old Josh Burgos, were taken to Houlton Regional Hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
