Thanks for Your Input-Fawn Takes a Drink Got an Honorable Mention
My photo, 'Fawn Takes a Drink' gained an Honorable Mention ribbon at the Orrington Old Home Week Photo Contest.
More About the Fawn, the Photo Contest, and How You Can Pick Winner #12
A few weeks ago, I asked for your input about which of my photos I should enter into the competition, and the overwhelming winner of that poll was 'Fawn Takes a Drink.' The full-face photo of a very young deer was taken in my backyard, when the adorable baby wandered onto our property. He had absolutely no fear of us and we got as close to him as we dared. We didn't want to get our scent on him and upset his Mom. I thought I'd share with you another picture, this time of more than just his adorable face.
Anyway, I heard back from Orrington Librarian Kelly Brooks Bay, and learned that my photo took an Honorable Mention ribbon. That means that it will be included in some notecards with envelopes that will be for sale through the library soon. This year, they're doing something a little different - the 12th winner is being decided by vote. Anyone who stops into the Orrington Library, which is located in Center Drive School, can vote for their favorite photo. The winner will also be included in the notecard set. I entered two other photos, that are still in the running.
Don't Miss the Painted Paddles
If you stop by, consider bidding on a paddle. The library gave some local artists and artisans the chance to decorate/paint canoe paddles. Some of them are really creative, like one that looks like a whale and another that's been converted into a cribbage board. The winning bids in the silent auction will take the paddle home, with all the proceeds from the auction to benefit the library's programs.
