A heavy police presence in Stockton Springs Wednesday night turned out to be a case of mistaken identity.

The incident started with a high speed chase on Tuesday night. On Wednesday evening, police were on Cape Jellison Road in Stockton Springs because they believed they had found the suspect from that chase. But a State Police Trooper told WABI-TV that it was not the correct person.

Cape Jellison Road was closed for some time last night, while police searched, but they didn't find the suspect they're seeking. Officials say the suspect in question is not a threat to the area.
