Spaghetti Supper To Benefit Dexter Student With Cancer
A spaghetti supper and silent auction Sunday in Dexter will help the family of a high school senior who's battling cancer.
Matthew Simpson is at that age where he should be thinking about who he's going to take to prom and what he wants for a first car. And I'm sure he does think about those things. But among all the fun of senior year, Matt is dealing with a rare, aggressive form of cancer called Cic Dux Sarcoma.
Treatment for the disease includes chemotherapy, which Matt started last weekend in Portland. Obviously, the trips to and from Portland, cost of the procedures, and other expenses are putting a strain on his family. So a group of supporters have put together a fun evening to help defray the costs and some of the stress for the family.
Sunday evening, a spaghetti dinner and silent auction will be held at Dexter Regional High School. The silent auction runs from 4-8 p.m., with supper being served from 5-7. In addition, there will be entertainment throughout the evening. According to the event's Facebook page, some of the items up for bid will include an outside fireplace, tools, gift baskets and gift cards, a yeti cooler, and lots more. Take your appetite and your wallet, and enjoy a community evening for a great cause!
