Skowhegan Traffic Stop Ends in Seizure of $60K in Fentanyl, Coke
A Skowhegan man and woman are facing charges of drug trafficking after MDEA agents seized large amounts of cocaine and fentanyl from their vehicle.
The Investigation
Maine Drug Enforcement Agents had been investigating Christopher Park, 42, and his girlfriend, Stacy Bowman, 36, who they believed were bringing illegal drugs into Maine from Haverhill, Massachusetts. Earlier this week, drug agents learned that the couple had left the state of Maine in a Ford Escape. Working in conjunction with investigators in Massachusetts, officials were able to confirm that the vehicle was later spotted in Haverhill late Wednesday afternoon.
The Arrest
On Wednesday evening, drug agents and Maine State Police stopped the couple's vehicle on I-95 in Augusta. A search of the vehicle, with the aid of a drug detection K-9, resulted in the seizure of approximately 330 grams of fentanyl and 85 grams of cocaine. Officials say the street value of the drugs is approximately $60,000. According to the MDEA, it's believed the drugs were meant to be resold throughout Somerset and Kennebec counties.
Both Park and Bowman were transported to the Kennebec CountyJail where they were charged with Class A aggravated trafficking in schedule W drugs (fentanyl and crack). Bail was set at $15,000 each.
