Shirley Mills Store Owner Shot, Suspect Caught In Albion [UPDATE]
The Piscastaquis County Sheriff's Office says a suspect is in custody after a business owner in Shirley was shot.
Officials were called to the North Pointe Farm and Garden on Greenville Road in Shirley before 7 Monday morning. According to WABI-TV, a woman was taken to the hospital after being shot at the business. Her injuries are said to be non-life threatening.
Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says the suspect, 24-year-old Christopher Hallowell of Bath, was arrested in Albion, after crashing his vehicle. State Police say Hallowell led them on a short pursuit before crashing at the intersection of Clark and Winslow Roads, while attempting to make a turn. The suspect was arrested at gunpoint just after 8:00 Monday morning and charged with attempted murder.
Investigators say Hallowell and the victim are related, adding that this is not a case of domestic violence and the shooting was not accidental.
