It seems literally everything tugs at my wallet right now.
I don't need to sit here and tell you the prices of everything that's gone up in the last several months. All the big ones have skyrocketed. Gas, oil, food... All have experienced unprecedented upticks in cost because of inflation caused by the pandemic. And just you wait. Prices won't fall nearly as fast as they rose.
They do say nationally gas is going down, but the $50 I put in my little Honda CRV may challenge that notion. The screw gets turned a little tighter every day, haha. This summer, we're going to be adding one more little expense. Sure, it's not an over-the-top scenario, but it's just another straw on the proverbial camel.
The cost of mailing things is going to increase.
This July, according to WABI, stamp prices are going to take a small 4 cent jump. As will the related costs for mail. Stamps are going from 53 cents to 57 cents. And that 4 cent rise also applies to additional weight charges and domestic post cards. International letters will go up 10 cents across the board.
Look, it's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. It's a few cents. And when it's all put together, it'll add some much-needed revenue to the bottom line for the postal service, which has been suffering for a while. I don't know what the next option would be, but 4 cents is something I can live with.
Plus, I just buy "forever" stamps... For the three times a year I might need an actual stamp. At least those are good forever, no matter what you paid for them. Again, it could be worse, but it's never fun to hear that just one more thing is going up. It'd be nice to get a break, instead of feeling continually broke.
