Two people have died, and three others were injured in an early morning crash in Sabattus.

The accident happened at around 6:00 Monday morning on Route 126. Police say that a car struck a beverage truck head-on, as the truck was being unloaded at the Oak Hill Cash Market. There were four people in the vehicle.

Police told WGME-TV that the two people killed in the crash were the driver, 60-year-old Wabah Sahal Salat, and one of the passengers, 48-year-old Shariffa Shale Ali.

Injured in the accident were 38-year-old Sareya Abdi and 48-year-old Mwavita Echa Kiza, who were passengers in the car. The driver of the beverage truck, 33-year-old Shane Cormer, also sustained injuries. Commonwealth Poultry in Gardiner posted on the company's Facebook page that some of the victims were their employees, on their way to work.

Sabattus and State Police continue to investigate this accident.
