Eddington, Maine Woman Arrested for Baby's Overdose

Brittany Wood, 36, of Eddington, is charged with domestic violence aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

According to the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to a home on the Clewleyville Road in Eddington on May 31st for a report of an infant with a cardiac issue.

A supervisor was nearby and rushed to the scene, where he found the unresponsive child in the driveway with his parents.

With help from the parents, the supervisor initiated CPR, but the child still wasn't responding.

When the Sheriff's Supervisor was informed that the infant may have been exposed to an unknown substance and may have overdosed on it, he changed tactics, administering first one, then a second dose of Narcan.

Thanks to the opioid-reversal drug, the infant began showing signs of life and, with continued CPR, was revived.

The case was investigated by the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office, DA's office, and DHHS, and it was determined that charges would be filed.

Earlier this week, the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office asked for the public's help in locating Wood in connection with the incident, as they had an active arrest warrant in her name.

On July 14, 2026, with help from several other local agencies, investigators determined Wood was at a Brewer residence.

At approximately 7am, a vehicle being driven by a male was stopped by the Brewer Police Department and Wood, who was a passenger, was taken into custody without incident.

There's now an active investigation into those who assisted Wood as she eluded arrest.
