Rotary Quarter Mile in Old Town this Saturday
On World Polio Day last October we wrote about the Rotary Quarter Mile, thinking it was so far off into the future the only way to remember it would be to set a calendar appointment. Well here we go.
This Saturday, May 22nd, the 3 Rotary clubs who have been raising money for months for the 'Rotary Quarter Mile'.(Rotary Club of Bangor Noontime, Bangor Area Breakfast Rotary Club and Rotary Club of Old Town) will lay a mile of quarters end to end in the fight to rid the world of polio once and for all. One mile of quarters is 66,555 quarters. That is $16,638. And there's a national 2 to 1 match by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. So that'll turn into just shy of $50 thousand.
The local Rotary clubs and the Rotary Quarter Mile will happen at the Riverfront Park in Old Town beginning at 10 this Saturday morning..
Friend of the Q106.5 Morning Show, Rebecca Kirk, President of the Rotary Club of Bangor Noontime says:
Rotary Clubs are working to have an amazing impact, and to still be of service to the community. We’d like to let everyone know the money was raised and that this project is so important.
