Portland Police say a shooting victim is in critical condition and now they're looking for the shooter.

The Portland Press Herald reports the shooting happened Tuesday night at around 10:30. A police officer who was near the Oxford Street Shelter saw an altercation on Oxford Street, near the intersection with Elm Street, and heard gunfire. He provided first aid to the male victim, until he could be transported to Maine Maine Medical Center. Police say the 45-year-old Portland man is in critical condition, but did not release his name.

Police are looking for the suspect in the shooting, and are calling it an isolated incident. The public is not believed to be in any danger.
