A man has died after being found by Portland sanitation workers, and now police are looking for his companion.

Portland Police say the man was found semi-conscious just before 2:00 Friday morning. The workers who discovered the man attempted CPR and called 911. Paramedics were also unable to revive him.

Police told WCSH-TV that the victim was seen walking with another unknown man shortly before he was found alone and in distress. They were reportedly walking west on Free Street, away from the area around the Cross Insurance Arena. Officials say the victim's companion was a white man, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, who was last seen walking alone on Oak Street, towards Congress Street.

The victim's body will be taken to the State Medical Examiner's Office, to determine cause of death. His name has not been released, but police say he was 44-years-old.
