The Maine State Police have released the identity of a skier who was killed while on the slopes of Sunday River. The man reportedly skied into some trees while attempting a challenging slope.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said in a press release that 35-year-old Benjamin Taylor of Bethel died just before 11 o'clock Wednesday morning. Taylor was an employee of Sunday River but wasn't working when he died.

A friend of Taylor's saw him ski off the trail called 'Black Hole' and found him unresponsive after he collided with some trees . Officials say Taylor was an expert skier and was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
