Police Investigating Shots Fired In South Portland
South Portland Police are searching for the person responsible for a shooting.
In a post on the department's Facebook page, police say the incident happened just before 9:30 Monday night, when they were called to the area of Pearl and Elm Streets for possible shots fired. Several people from the neighborhood called police to report hearing what they believed to be gunshots, and then a vehicle speeding away.
When officers arrived, they found gunshot damage to a vehicle, storage shed, and a home. No one was hurt in the incident, and the damage was limited to property. From witness reports, police say they believe the suspect(s) took off toward Broadway after the shooting.
Investigators continue to work on this case and ask that anyone with information, or who believes they heard anything significant, contact Detective Scott Corbett at (207) 799-5511, Extension 7449, or email scottco@southportland.org.
