Police have released more details after a 7-year-old girl was shot and wounded inside a Waterville apartment.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says Emaleeh Foster is in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery. WABI-TV reports she was having a snack in the bedroom of her family's second floor apartment when her family heard several loud pops. She was taken to MaineGeneral Hospital and then transported by LifeFlight to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where she continues to recover.

The motive for the shooting is unknown and, so far, no arrests have been made. Emaleeh's family home on Summer Street is in the same neighborhood where a young mother was shot and killed in October. Residents have said that they're concerned about a recent rise in crime.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 680-4700.

We'll update this story as more details become available.
