A man was killed Monday when the pickup truck he was riding in collided with an oil tanker truck in Liberty.

The collision occurred after the pickup veered into the path of the oil truck on Route 3 near Marshall Shore Road, Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety, said in a news release Monday.

The oil truck, owned by H.O. Bouchard, ended up on its side in a grassy bog. Troopers said no oil leaked from the tank.

The driver of the big rig was not injured.

The release did not say what caused the pickup to veer into the path of the oil truck.
