The newest production from Penobscot Theatre Company will have audiences toe-tappin' along.

The next production to take to the stage at the Bangor Opera House is a folk musical. The Spitfire Grill kicked off last night in Downtown Bangor. The production runs through May 10.

Penobscot Theatre Company's website describes the story as:

"A feisty parolee follows her dreams to sleepy Gilead, Wisconsin, and finds a place for herself working at Hannah’s Spitfire Grill. The diner is for sale but with no offers on the table, Hannah decides to raffle it off. Whoever submits $100 and the most compelling essay will win the grill. Soon, mail is arriving by the barrel and things are definitely cookin’ at the Spitfire Grill."

Tickets for all the performances are on-sale now.

Earlier this month, Penobscot Theatre Company announced their 2018-2019 season. The 45th season will feature seven productions. So far six productions have been announced, with a surprise seventh show to be announced later in the year.

Country music fans won't want to miss Honky Tonk Laundry. The musical features music by Reba McEntire, Carrie Underwood, The Dixie Chicks, Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline and more. The production runs January 31, through February 24, 2019.

The official website for Honky Tonk Laundry describes the musical as: "When Lana Mae Hopkins, owner and proprietress of the Wishy Washy Washateria, hires Katie Lane Murphy to help out in the Laundromat, they soon find themselves up to their elbows in soap, suds, and cheatin’ hearts. Watch these two country angels join forces to turn their good ol' Laundromat into a boot-scootin’ honky-tonk, exacting a touch of revenge against those that done ‘em wrong, and all while guaranteeing each and every customer a good, clean time!"

The production runs January 31, through February 24, 2019.
