Passerby Pulls Injured Man From Interstate Wreck in Fairfield
A Clinton man suffered a broken leg in a Thursday morning crash on Interstate 95 in Fairfield.
Devin Douglass, 24, was injured when his 2002 Ford pickup truck slammed into guard rails and caught fire just after 8 a.m. A passerby pulled Douglass from the vehicle, according to police.
Motorists reported Douglass was driving erratically in the northbound lanes just before the crash. The pickup took out several guardrail posts before coming to rest in the median, police said.
The truck later burst into flames forcing troopers to shut down both north and southbound lanes for a time as firefighters extinguished the blaze.
Douglass was taken to a Waterville hospital.
The crash is under investigation.
