Old Town Police Arrest Man For Allegedly Selling Drugs Near School
Old Town police say they searched an apartment on Somerset Street after the arrest of a suspected drug dealer and discovered more than 170 Xanax pills and $920 in cash.
Nicholas Whitten, 22, of South Portland is charged with aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs, Old Town police Capt. Lee Miller said in a Tuesday news release.
Old Town police arranged through text messages a drug deal with Whitten and arrested him when he arrived at the agreed upon location, Miller said.
He was allegedly in possession of 25 Xanax pills at the time of his arrest.
Police executed the search warrant at the Somerset Street home after Whitten was taken into custody.
He was charged with aggravated trafficking because the apartment was in a school zone.
The Orono Police Department assisted Old Town police in executing the search warrant.
