Lewiston, Maine Man Arrested After Investigation and House Fire

A Lewiston man is facing charges in connection with an investigation at a home that later caught on fire.

Maine Man Faces Charges After an Investigation by Lewiston Police

Police located Treven Stoops, 38, in Auburn on Tuesday morning, September 1, 2026.

He was arrested on outstanding warrants and is being held at the Androscoggin County Jail.

While he was incarcerated, Stoops was charged by the State Fire Marshal's Office with arson.

Lewiston Police Say a Home at the Center of an Investigation Caught Fire a Day Later

Police were looking for Stoops in connection with an investigation at 14 Libby Avenue in Lewiston that occurred on August 30, 2026.

That investigation resulted in the arrest warrants, but officials have not commented on the charges.

After the warrants were issued, but before the police caught up with Stoops, the Lewiston Fire Department was called to the same residence for a report of a structure fire on Monday, August 31, 2026.

Fire crews extinguished the fire quickly and then called in the State Fire Marshal's Office to investigate.

No people were hurt in the blaze but it's believed several pet birds perished.

Because of the recent investigation at that address and the outstanding arrest warrants, Lewiston Police Officers were also at the scene during the fire, exercising extreme caution and keeping firefighters safe.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
