Friday July 16th at the Old Town Elks Club, 37 4th Street in Old Town

Deanna Sherburne a volunteer on the house committee says

“It has been a struggle since the Pandemic hit in March of 2020, we had to shut down our events.  And our events are how we raise the money to operate. The other way to bring in money is the lounge is open to members only, but we weren’t able to be open”

So here is a chance to get the community out for the dance next Friday.  Tickets are only $12 in advance (Call the Elks Club at 827-8498)  or $14 at the door.

However, this will not be a fundraiser for the Old Town Elks Club, because they will be donating all the money to the Maine Childrens Cancer Program. All the money raised that night goes to fund the work that great charity does.

To host the country dance Friday the 16th, Mainer and now a Nashville resident Perley Curtis will bring his band and host the dance.  And Perley will play for free, so even more money will go to fight Children’s Cancer.

Perley Curtis is a 2012 inductee of the Maine Country Music Hall of Fame, which is located in Mechanic Falls.  Maybe Perley’s greatest claim to fame is he once toured with Loretta Lynn….for six straight years.  That’s a long tour.  Whew.

Doors open at 6 p.m., the dance starts at 7 p.m.  There will be a bar and bar food.

Sounds like a great night.

And stay tuned for details on another cornhole tournament at the Old Town Elks Club.
