Massachusetts Woman Dies In Orient Crash
Orient Crash
A Massachusetts woman was killed in a crash involving a tractor trailer on a snow-covered road in Orient.
State Police say the accident happened on Route 1 in Orient just after noon on Thursday when 69-year-old Darlene Williams of Charlton City, Massachusetts was entering onto Route 1 from the Beaver Brook Road in her Kia Sorrento. Early indications are that she failed to yield the right of way, pulling out in front of a tractor trailer. The truck's driver, 72-year-old David Gardner of Patten, was unable to stop in time, due to the snow-covered roads, and the rig struck the driver's side of Williams' vehicle.
Williams was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene. Garnder was not hurt but was still taken to a Houlton hospital to be checked out.
The accident remains under investigation.
