Two people sustained injuries when their plane crashed into a Maine lake on Monday.
Maine Police Say 2 Were Hurt in a Plane Crash in Flaggstaff Lake
Maine State Police say the pilot, Stephen Vorpagel, 62, of Readfield, and a passenger whose name has not been released, both survived the crash. They were rescued, brought to shore, and found to have minor injuries and abrasions.
A 911 call to the Augusta Regional Communications Center reported the crash at approximately 1:31 pm on Monday on Flaggstaff Lake in Dead River Township.

Maine Police Say a Seaplane Crashed on Flaggstaff Lake
According to Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesperson Shannon Moss, an initial investigation indicates that the 1956 Cessna 170B float plane was trying to take off from the lake when it crashed.
The crash is now under investigation by state agencies and the Federal Aviation Administration.
This is the second plane crash in Maine in less than a month.
Bangor, Maine Police Say a Resident of Italy Died in a Plane Crash at BIA
On August 22nd, Luigi Accusani, 74, of Italy was killed when his plane crashed at Bangor International Airport.
Officials say Mr. Accusani had left Goose Bay, Newfoundland, and was attempting to land at BIA when his plane crashed outside the fence surrounding the runway.
The cause of that crash remains under investigation. Airport officials this was the first fatal civilian crash at BIA. WGME-TV reports two members of the Air National Guard died when their fighter jet crashed at BIA in 1971.
