Maine Police Say a Falmouth Man has Died After a Turnpike Crash
A Falmouth man has died from injuries he sustained in a single-vehicle crash this morning on the Maine Turnpike.
Who is the Deceased?
According to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss, Thomas Bosma, 59, of Falmouth died at Maine Medical Center after being transported from the crash scene.
What Happened?
Maine State Police responded to the crash at around 6:00 Wednesday morning. The single-vehicle crash had happened on the Maine turnpike in Falmouth, at the Hurricane Road overpass. When they arrived, police found a pickup truck that had struck the guardrail and then upended. Mr. Bosma, who had been driving the truck, was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by first responders. Moss says when Bosma was still in the truck, he was alert and conscious and communicating with rescue workers. But once they took him to Maine Medical Center, his condition deteriorated fast and he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The initial investigation into this crash suggests that Bosma because distracted while driving his Honda Ridgeline northbound on the Turnpike and drifted off the road, striking the guardrail.
This crash remains under investigation.
