A Maryland man who is accused of fatally shooting his father in Maryland was caught this week in Maine.

Maine Police Arrest a Man Wanted on Warrants in Maryland Since 2024

Auburn Maine Police say Ja'bril Roynell Walters, 31, has been wanted on unrelated charges for a year.

He faces a fugitive from justice charge in Maine and has multiple arrest warrants in Maryland:

  • First-degree murder
  • Second-degree murder
  • Use of a firearm in commission of a violent crime
  • 5 counts of first-degree assault

Maryland Man Caught in Maine is Accused of Fatally Shooting His Father

Ja'bril had been a fugitive since July 2024 in connection with an assault.

Walters was apprehended in Auburn on July 8th, 2025, after the U.S. Marshals Service Maine Violent Offender Task Force got a tip from the U.S. Marshals Service in Maryland that Walters may have fled to Maine and could be living under an alias.

Officials say he was tracked to an Auburn home and taken into custody without incident.

His father, Roy Walters, 57, of Salisbury, Maryland was found dead inside his home of gunshot wounds in February of 2025. WBOC-TV reports that, after the murder, investigators asked for the public's help locating Walter's son, Ja'bril, because they felt he had information about his father's death.
