An Aroostook County man, who allegedly used social media to solicit sex from minors, was arrested as part of a multi-state FBI operation.
Maine Registered Sex Offender Faces New Charges After an FBI Sting
Joseph A. Maile, of Presque Isle, is charged by criminal complaint for allegedly attempting to sex traffic a child and for enticement of a minor. FBI officials say he is accused of using social media accounts to offer various minors money to engage in sex acts with him.

Maile is a 10-year registrant on the Maine Sex Offender Registry for unlawful sexual contact.
The FBI's Multi-State Operation Netted 205 Arrests, Including a Man From Maine
Operation Restore Justice was a five-day, sweeping FBI initiative to protect children by identifying, tracking, and arresting child sex predators across the country. All fifty-five field offices participated in the operation in recognition of April as National Child Abuse Prevention Month.

As part of the operation, 205 suspects were charged, and officials rescued 115 children across the country. Officials say the people arrested in this sting included law enforcement, military members, teachers, and others.
Information About Possible Crimes Against Children Can Be Reported to the FBI
Anyone who has information about suspected crimes against a child is urged to call 911, local law enforcement, or 1-800-CALL-FBI (225-5324). Tips can also be reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at 1-800-THE-LOST (1-800-843-5678).
