Auburn Man Charged with Murder for Deaths of 2 Men in Poland
An Auburn man is charged with two counts of murder for the deaths of two young men in the town of Poland.
Who Was Arrested?
Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss says Aaron Aldrich, 46, of Auburn, Maine has been charged with two counts of murder. He is currently in the Rockingham County Jail in Brentwood, New Hampshire on property crime charges not connected to the two Poland murders.
Where Were the Two Victims Found?
Members of the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Department went to a home at 20 Tripp Lake Road in Poland on Tuesday, February 21st to do a welfare check. When they arrived, they found two deceased males. Maine State Police were called to help in the investigation once the deaths were ruled as a homicide. Over the weekend, detectives conducted interviews in both Maine and New Hampshire which led them to name Aldrich as a suspect and arrest him on the two murder charges.
The victims, in this case, have been identified as Shoeb Mohamed Adan, 21, of Springfield, Massachusetts, and 16-year-old Mohamed Aden of Lewiston, Maine. Moss says the two men are not related. There's been no indication of what the motive may have been in this case or how the men died.
What Happens Now?
Aldrich will face extradition proceedings in New Hampshire before he can be brought back to Maine to be tried on the murder charges. Anyone with information about this case is encouraged to contact the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Department at 207-753-2599.
