
Maine Marine Patrol Recovers a Body from the Kennebec River
A male body has been recovered from the Kennebec River, during a search for a man who jumped in the water to save his dog.
Maine Marine Patrol Officials Have Been Searching the River Since Sunday
There's no confirmation, at this point, that the body is Robert Stolt, 22, of Augusta, who was the subject of the search.
Maine Officials Say the Man's Body Was Spotted By People on a Nearby Island
Maine Marine Patrol officials say some people on Crawford Island spotted the man's body at approximately 6 pm. Wednesday on Woods Island, which is a short distance away. They contacted authorities who recovered the body, with assistance from the Bath Police Department.
The identity of the deceased is pending confirmation from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta.
Maine Marine Patrol Was Searching the River For a Man Who Tried to Save His Dog
A search has been ongoing in the Kennebec River, near Bath, for Mr. Stolt since Sunday, July 6th. He had been in a boat with a female companion and two dogs when his dog jumped into the river near Lines Island.
Stolt's dog was recovered safely on the shore of Lines island Sunday by the local Animal Control Officer.
The female passenger and a second dog were rescued by other boaters Sunday and taken to shore, where she was treated for minor injuries.
