Mainers Can Learn More About Becoming a Game Warden
Information sessions will be held in January for anyone interested in becoming a Maine Game Warden.
Maine Game Wardens are More Than What You Saw on TV
We all became a lot more familiar with the duties of Game Wardens through the TV Show, North Woods Law. But there's so much more to it than what we saw on those entertaining episodes.

Wardens work outside every day, protecting Maine's fish, wildlife, and the people who want to enjoy them. This includes catching poachers, tracking down people fishing and hunting illegally, and much more.
Maine Warden Service is Looking to Hire People Who Love the Outdoors
As a Game Warden, your office is the great outdoors, and your work vehicle is a truck, snowmobile, boat, or ATV. For anyone who'd rather walk through the woods than sit at a desk, it's a rewarding way to spend your work day.

Add to this the fact that there's a 25-year retirement system, as well as state-paid benefits, and it's a pretty cool career choice.
Maine Game Warden Career Nights Will Offer Information and Applications
If you've ever thought about becoming a Game Warden, three informational sessions planned for January will answer your questions and could even help you fill out an application.
The Career Information Nights will be held at the following locations:
- Sidney - Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 6 to 8 pm, at the Sidney Headquarters.
- Bangor - Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 6 to 8 pm, at the Bangor Headquarters.
- Gray - Friday, January 16, 2026, from 6 to 8 pm at the Gray Headquarters.
It's challenging work, with highs like rescuing missing children and lows of recovering people who've succumbed to the elements.
But it's rewarding because you know you're keeping people safe and protecting the woods, waters, and wildlife that make Maine special.
