Lunchtime Auction For Ronald McDonald House Charities

While the benefit auction is called 'Purses With Purpose,' there will be a lot more than purses up for bids on Wednesday.

It's all happening at the Hilton Garden Inn in Bangor. Lunch will be served while participants bid on jewelry, accessories, art work, home decor, purses, and more. Also up for bid will be 'experiences,' which organizers tell me includes some getaways and evenings out. There will be both silent and live auctions, so plenty of chances to pick up something great.

The money raised will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities, which operates two RM Houses in Maine, including one on State Street in Bangor. These residences offer low-cost/free housing to families with children being treated at the hospital. It not only makes staying nearby affordable, but also offers a homey, supportive setting for people who already have enough on their minds. In addition, Ronald McDonald House Charities has a 'family room' at Maine Medical Center in Portland, that offers the same kind of comforting atmosphere for families, right at the hospital. And they have a grant program, as well.

The Purses With Purpose Auction will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1st, at the Hilton Garden Inn, 250 Haskell Road in Bangor. Find more information on the Purses With Purpose Facebook page.
