Wardens say speed and alcohol were possible factors in a Saturday night snowmobile crash that killed a man from Lee.

Warden Service Corporal John MacDonald says the accident happened at approximately 9:00 Saturday evening on the Buckshot Road, which is a private, plowed road. 52-year-old John Dorsey of Lee failed to negotiate a curve, shortly after heading out on his ride. He and the sled struck a tree after leaving the road and he was killed. Wardens say he was wearing a helmet.

The accident scene was discovered just before 11:00 Sunday morning by a man going to visit a home on the Buckshot Road. The snowmobile was still running, despite sustaining a significant amount of damage. Wardens say speed and alcohol appear to have been contributing factors in the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
