A collision between a motorcycle and a vehicle in Trenton left one man in critical condition and backed up traffic on Tuesday morning.

State Police told the Ellsworth American that a motorcycle operated by 61-year-old Bruce Gott of Lamoine crossed the centerline on Route 3 and struck a Ford Explorer, driven by 40-year-old Emily Maehrlein of Cold Spring, New York. Gott was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, where he was listed in critical condition, at last report. Officials say he was wearing a helmet. Maehrlin was not hurt in the accident.

State Police were assisted at the scene by Bar Harbor Police and fire departments from Trenton and Bar Harbor.

State Police continue to investigate the crash.
