Whether it was intentional or not, the name Annabelle has become synonymous with horror.

The series of films based on the Annabelle doll and the subsequent real-life New England hauntings that inspired those movies sticks in the back of every person's mind who has seen them.

But perhaps the old Raggedy Ann doll that has become a frightening symbol isn't the only Annabelle in the region scaring people. Because there's another haunting story that exists here in Maine.

According to the State Register Journal, guests kept reporting seeing and hearing a young girl throughout the residence despite the fact that there were no children staying there.

After enough reports, the Admiral Peary Inn brought in a psychic who determined that there was a presence within the walls of the inn and her name was "Annabelle".

There Was No Recorded Horror History at the Admiral Peary Inn in Fryeburg, Maine

Typically, hauntings have some sort of historical backstory that can shine a light on why or what is happening. But with Annabelle at the Admiral Peary Inn, there's no such luck.

An investigation showed no tangible historical evidence that any child around Annabelle's age ever called the inn home. Without detailed evidence, paranormal experts can't figure out why Annabelle haunted the Admiral Peary Inn Bed & Breakfast.
