An early morning fire destroyed a potato house in Limestone on Wednesday.

Fire Destroyed Potato House in Northern Maine

Firefighters responded to the fire at 302 Main Street around 1:44 am.

Potato House Almost Entirely Consumed by Fire

“Upon arrival the potato house was collapsed and almost entirely consumed by fire,” according to the Limestone Vol. Fire Department.

Building and Potatoes Totally Destroyed

The potato house building was deemed a total loss and a small amount of potatoes were destroyed by the fire.

Fire Marshal’s Office Notified to Investigate

The Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office was called and notified to investigate.

Multiple Crews and Equipment Used to Fight Fire

Several crews attacked the fire to protect exposure. Two Engines, one tanker and eight firefighters responded.

Fire Crews Battled Blaze for Several Hours

Crews worked several hours to clear the scene around 3:37 am.

Fire Safely Contained Within the Foundation

“Some smoke and or fire may still be visible, but is safely contained within the foundation. No reason to be alarmed,” said the Limestone Vol. Fire Department.
