Vice President JD Vance will make an appearance in Bangor this week, and the public is invited.

Vice President JD Vance Will Visit Bangor on Thursday with an Event at BGR

Specifically, the event will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at the BGR Aviation FBO, located at 188 Maine Avenue in Bangor.

Doors will open at 9:30 am on Thursday.

The program is scheduled to begin at 11:30 am.

Remarks by Vice President Vance will begin at 12:30 pm.

Maine Residents Who Wish to Attend the Vice President's Visit Should Plan Ahead

People can RSVP to this event (which is required) through the Maine Republican Party's website.

On the day of the event, it would be a good idea to arrive earlier rather than later, to ensure you get a good vantage point, and make it through security before the event begins.

Bangor Police say they expect heavier traffic in the area of Maine Avenue, and that people should give themselves plenty of time to get to their destination.

Anyone not planning to attend the event may want to avoid the area.

Vice President JD Vance is Expected to Make Remarks about Combatting Fraud

According to the White House Press Office, Vice President Vance will deliver remarks on the Administration's efforts to combat fraud.

This visit comes just over a week after Dr. Oz, who heads the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, threatened to cut off federal funding to Maine.

A recent State audit reportedly showed more than $45 million in improper payments for autism services, which WGME-TV says appear to be due more to mistakes than fraud.

Still, federal officials feel the situation warrants more scrutiny.

Governor Janet Mills has said that the State of Maine has 'robust procedures and enforcement mechanisms to identify fraud' and that all allegations are turned over to the Office of the Attorney General.
