The “Toxic” and “Lucky” singer reportedly had a brief romantic stint with this Maine native back in 2007.

It was recently reported that the singer had spent time at a rehab facility in Maine, but that isn’t the only connection she has to the Pine Tree State.

Back in April of 2007, following her public divorce from Kevin Federline and their child custody battle, Spears was reportedly romantically linked to a few different people.

That list included music producer J.R. Rotem, model Isaac Cohen, and even a musician from Maine.

As Life & Style reported at the time, Spears reportedly entered rehab in 2007, where she met Maine musician Howie Day, and the two were said to have briefly sparked a romance.

However, the magazine also reported that Spears’ mother, Lynne, was concerned about Day’s past arrests and time in rehab, and reportedly stepped in because she wanted Britney to be with someone outside of the music industry.

Day is a singer-songwriter best known for songs like “Collide” and “She Says.” He was born in Bangor, raised in Brewer, and attended Brewer High School.

Multiple high-profile arrests and legal issues have also brought significant negative attention over the years, including incidents in 2004, 2005, 2018, and 2019, with the singer later reflecting in 2013 that his early rise to fame was overwhelming but not an excuse for his behavior.
