Is Martha Stewart’s Lobster Cooking Method Odd Or Awesome?
In a lot of cases, I would have no problem looking to Martha Stewart for advice. When it comes to home decor, being super crafty, or delicious baking tips, she is a winner just about every time. But when it comes to cooking lobster, I feel like she's a bit of a flat-lander.
However, I was cruising around on the interwebs, and on Guacamoley.com, I saw a video entitled, 'Martha Stewart's Helpful Tip for Cooking Lobster Is Honestly Dark AF'. By the way. if you don't know what AF stands for, please go ask a teenager, and let them explain. But, in this video, Martha explains what she does to relax the bugs a bit before she throws them into the pot. Check it out:
If you don't have time to watch the whole thing, basically, she's telling Jennifer Garner how she gives the lobsters a shot before she dunks them. Sometimes vodka, sometimes tequila. I don't know if she does this for specific holidays, like tequila for Cinco de Mayo, or perhaps Vodka for election day. But as she says, “If you were going to be boiled alive, wouldn’t you like to have a drink first?”
The part I found funniest, is that by the end of the article, they talk about her line of cannabis infused dog treats, and mention maybe she should just throw weed into the water, because who doesn't love baked lobster? Ugh. Little do they know, we Mainers have already been down this road, and the answer was NO!
So I don't know, it's not like a single shot of booze into your lobster pot is going to add any flavor. So I think it's just a waste of perfectly good tequila. But I appreciate the sentiment. Because she's right... If I were about to die, I'd definitely want a drink first.
Maybe two.
