Crews from several towns battled a huge fire at the AIM Recycling building in Bangor Friday evening.

WVII-TV reports the fire was in a building that houses the shop/break room for AIM Recycling, which sits in the same lot as Kenny U-Pull, on outer Broadway. Employees of Kenny U-Pull noticed the smoke and called 911 while evacuating the area. Officials say the fire started in the environmental area, where employees take oils and fluids out of the vehicles. Several gas tanks and other flammable liquids were stored in the area, and workers say they could hear explosions.

When crews arrived, flames were leaping high into the sky and the column of smoke could be seen for miles. Getting water to the scene was a challenge, with crews from several towns filling up trucks from hydrants closer to town.

No one was hurt in the incident. The State Fire Marshal's Office will now work to determine what sparked the blaze.
