Police say four people were taken to the hospital following a head-on crash in Livermore on Tuesday.

Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss says it was just before 3:00 Tuesday afternoon when Maine State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Federal Road in Livermore, just north of the intersection with Canton Road. Few details have been released, but officials say two vehicles collided head-on. Four occupants of the two vehicles were all transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with moderate to severe injuries. Their names have not been released, pending notification of family.

Police are now working to determine the cause of the crash. Anyone who witnessed the crash is encouraged to reach out to Trooper Nicholas Watson at 207-624-7076 (option 9).

Maine State Police were assisted at the scene by the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office, the Livermore Fire Department, the Turner Fire Department, and NorthStar Rescue.

We'll update this story as more details become available.
