Serious Crash in Greenbush Closes Route 2

Police on Monday are investigating the cause of a crash on Route 2 in Greenbush that closed the road for several hours near the Milford Town line.

Police said a single vehicle drifted off the right side of the road just after 8 a.m. and struck a utility pole before coming to rest in about two feet of water in a nearby bog. One of the occupants was ejected and pinned under the vehicle, police said.

The vehicle was carrying four local people -- a 24-year-old man from Millinocket, a 36-year-old woman from Greenbush, a 27-year-old woman from Milford and a 29-year-old man from Old Town.

The Penobscot County Sheriff's Office was assisted on the scene by Greenbush Fire, Milford Fire, Old Town Ambulance & Fire, Orono Ambulance, Life Flight of Maine, Maine DOT, and Versant Power.

Police did not release the identities of those involved or their conditions after the crash.
