Grandma Joy’s Road Trip Comes To Maine
An 89-year-old woman and her grandson visited Acadia National Park this summer, part of their quest to visit all the national parks in the U.S.
I absolutely love this story. An 85-year-old grandmother, named Joy, told her grandson, Brad Ryan, that she'd never seen a mountain or an ocean. The thought that she could spend her entire life without seeing those sites touched him so deeply that he suggested they take a road trip. And not just a short, weekend getaway.
It's been 3 1/2 years of traveling a total of 25,000 miles, through 38 states, with the goal of visiting every National Park, across the United States. Grandma Joy is now 89-years-young and she's still loving the journey, according to her Facebook and Instagram photos.
In June, the pair made their way to Maine and visited beautiful Acadia National Park. Grandma Joy can be seen using a large walking stick in some photos, sitting on the edge of a rock overlooking some beautiful scenery in another, and just soaking up the Maine atmosphere. We're sorry we missed your visit, Grandma Joy and Brad, but we hope you enjoyed Maine. Good luck on the rest of your journey!
