Maine Lawmakers Address Violent Protest in Washington, D.C.

Maine Gov. Janet Mills and members of Maine's congressional delegation released statements on Wednesday evening concerning the violent protests in Washington, D.C.

Protestors breached the doors of the Capitol building in Washington Wednesday afternoon, as Congress met to confirm the Electoral College vote and confirm Joe Biden as the new U.S. President.

Supporters of President Trump had held a rally earlier in the day at the White House and then walked to the Capitol building, where a protest turned violent as some of the people broke windows and doors, entering the building and making their way to the Congressional chambers. One woman was critically injured inside the Capitol when she was shot in the chest. She later died of her injuries.
