Father of 8-Year-Old Crash Victim Dies of his Injuries

The father of an 8-year-old boy, who was killed in a car accident over the weekend, has succumbed to his injuries.

Young Owen Oates was traveling with his parents on Chadbourne Road in Standish on Saturday when they were involved in a three-vehicle accident. He died in that crash and both his parents were taken to the hospital. While his mother, 46-year-old Kerry Oates, remains hospitalized, his dad, 51-year-old Vincent Oates, died Thursday evening at Maine Medical Center.

Sheriff's deputies say the accident remains under investigation.
