Ellsworth Man Arrested Again on Drug Charges on Kylie's Way

An Ellsworth man has been arrested twice in a week during investigations into the alleged sale of illegal drugs.

Who is the Suspect?

On Wednesday, January 24th, police arrested six people from Ellsworth and Mt. Desert on various drug charges. The arrests were the result of a three-month investigation by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency into the sale of illegal drugs in Hancock County.

Jeffrey Card, 48, of Ellsworth was one of those six people. In this case, he was charged with unlawful trafficking in methamphetamine and was later released from custody on $5,000 cash bail.

Why Was He Re-Arrested?

A week later, on Wednesday, January 31st, drug agents assigned to the Downeast Task Force, along with members of the Ellsworth Police Department, went to Card's home on Kylie's Way in Ellsworth to search the residence. Card had agreed to random searches, as part of his bail conditions during his previous incarceration.

Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss says drug agents found approximately 1/2 pound of fentanyl (241 grams), along with 36 grams of suspected methamphetamine during that search. The combined street value of the drugs is $42,000. Card was re-arrested and charged with class A aggravated trafficking in scheduled W drugs (fentanyl and methamphetamine), as well as violations of conditions of release. He was transported back to the Hancock County Jail for booking.
