Maine DOT to Close 1 Lane of I-95 in Bangor on Monday
The Maine DOT will close one southbound lane of I-95 on Monday during the daytime hours.
The Broadway Overpass Has Been an Ongoing Headache for Drivers
Drivers through Bangor have become used to the ongoing construction and lane changes in the area of the Broadway overpass on I-95 as crews work to replace it. Throughout this project, traffic has occasionally been disrupted on I-95 and on Broadway.
The speed limit on that part of the interstate has been reduced to 50 miles per hour which, honestly, many people don't pay attention to. Many drivers' failure to reduce their speed often makes me wonder if they've forgotten that the construction is there. Just in case, I thought I'd give drivers a heads-up before next week's Broadway traffic adventure.

Daytime Traffic on I-95 in That Area Will Be Slowed on Monday
The latest disruption will happen on Monday, February 24th, when the Maine Department of Transportation will close one lane on the southbound side of I-95. While drivers will still be able to get through the area, this closure will slow traffic between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Northbound traffic will not be affected.
Officials say the lane closure is necessary to accommodate the set-up of equipment and the safety of workers.
Take a Deep Breath Because This Project Isn't as Close To Completion As You'd Hoped
The project began in June 2023 and is part of a comprehensive, multi-year initiative, involving bridge replacements and intersection enhancements. It's scheduled for completion in late 2026.
