An Innocent Question Sent Me Time-Traveling Through Bangor

It's hard to remember what was in a particular storefront or on a city corner before the current occupants moved in, especially when you're talking about going back to 2007. Someone mentioned to me the other day, "Remember when Hollywood Casino was in a different place?"

I have to admit, I didn't. So I looked on Google Maps to check out the street views. And, you know what? He was right.

There is a Reason I Went Back 18 years and not 20

And so it began. I took a virtual drive around Bangor and hit the 'See More Dates' link on Google Maps. What I found was pretty interesting and took me down memory lane to what Bangor looked like nearly 20 years ago. It doesn't seem like it would have changed, but you'll be surprised.

18 wasn't a random number, by the way. That's how far back Google Street View goes, and I couldn't go further. I could describe it to you, but my memory's not always that clear. These Google images aren't that clear either, so that's changed significantly too. Google's cameras are a lot better.

Of Course, We Had To Stop By Stephen King's House

We'll hit several different areas of Bangor, including a few stops on Main Street, the Broad Street area, and West Broadway. You can't tour Bangor without stopping at Stephen King's house.

Once you've checked out the photos, ask yourself. Do you like Bangor in 2025 better or worse than in 2007? I think I'm leaning toward liking it better.
