East Millinocket Police Arrest Several on Drug-Related Charges

A one-day enforcement initiative by the East Millinocket Police Department resulted in multiple arrests for drug-related charges.

All the arrests were made on Saturday, February, 27th, with help from the U.S. Border Patrol.

12:30 PM - Police went to the Medway Road home of 62-year-old Kenneth Kunkel, to conduct a urine test. Kunkel, who was out on bail for a drug trafficking charge, tested positive for illegal drugs. In addition, police learned he had an active warrant for his arrest for violation of bail, related to another unlawful trafficking charge. He was arrested and transported to the Aroostook County Jail.

The subsequent arrests were the result of traffic stops:

2:30 PM - Traci Duprey-French, 31 of Mattawamkeag, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was arrested on several active warrants: for charges of reckless conduct; domestic violence assault; violation of bail; driving to endanger; theft; and unlawful possession of scheduled drugs. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seized of drug paraphernalia, as well as counterfeit U.S. currency. She was transported to the Aroostook County Jail, where she was found to be concealing illegal drugs.

8:00 PM - Ashlie Ferguson, 35 of Millinocket, was charged with unlawful possession of schedule W drugs. Seized in a search of that vehicle were several pieces of drug paraphernalia, as well as cocaine and benzylfentanyl.

Philip Powers, 40 of Medway, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was also arrested in connecting to an investigation into the discovery of suspect methamphetamine at a Medway convenience store. He's charged with unlawful furnishing in schedule W drugs.

8:30 PM - Nicholas Tanous, 29 of East Millinocket was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of schedule W drugs after a Border Patrol K9 alerted to the odor of drugs.
