Several people face charges in relation to drug busts in Brownville and Deer Isle that involved the trafficking of crack cocaine and heroin.

In Brownville, 49-year-old Roger Wood and 40-year-old Star Leeman are charged with several counts of aggravated unlawful trafficking of schedule W drugs. The arrests came as the result of an investigation that included several undercover purchases of heroin, cocaine, and crack cocaine from the couple's home at 43 Page Street. A search of the house turned up heroin, crack cocaine, and prescription pills, along with over $18,000 in suspected drug proceeds.

Wood remains at the Piscataquis County Jail and Leeman is free on $20,000 bail. Police say the investigation is continuing and more arrests are possible.

In an unrelated investigation, three residents from Deer Isle were arrested in connection with the trafficking of heroin. Drug  agents, with the assistance of the Hancock County Sheriff's Office searched a house at 47 Little Deer Isle Road and seized heroin, a handgun, and other items consistent with the sale and distribution of drugs.

Arrested were:

Kenneth Farrin, age 27 of Deer Isle, charged with unlawful trafficking of heroin, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and possession of heroin. Bail was set at $3,500 cash.

Shane Wood, age 27 of Deer Isle, charged with unlawful trafficking of heroin. Bail was set at $1,500 cash.

Jared Young, age 26 of Deer Isle, charged with unlawful trafficking of heroin. Bail was set at $1,500 cash.
