Driver Likely Fell Asleep In Cross Lake Fatal
Police say a driver likely fell asleep at the wheel, causing a fatal crash in Cross Lake.
State Police say the accident happened at around 3:30 Saturday morning on Route 161 in the town of Cross Lake, which is about 20 miles southeast of Fort Kent. 38-year-old Mark Paradis died when his Chevrolet pickup truck left the roadway and hit some trees.
Investigators reviewed the scene and determined that Paradis' vehicle drifted off the roadway and into the tree line, indicating that he likely had fallen asleep. Paradis was not wearing a seat belt. Emera Maine responded since the accident knocked out power in the Cross Lake region.
Police continue to investigate the accident.
