Driver Charged With Manslaughter After Fatal Etna Crash
A man was arrested Monday in connection with a deadly crash Aug. 4 on Route 2 in Etna.
Richard Lupo II, 32, of Etna was arrested and charged with manslaughter and aggravated driving to endanger, the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office said in a Monday news release.
The months-long investigation revealed that Lupo was traveling on the wrong side of the road at a high rate of speed when he collided head-on with another vehicle, police said.
Debra Calderwood, 73, of Etna was killed instantly in the collision.
The sheriff's office said the case will be presented in the near future to the Penobscot County Grand Jury, and additional charges are expected.
Lupo on Monday remained held on $50,000 bail in the Penobscot County Jail in Bangor.
